The Crates: Giorgio - Tears

Born in Italy on April 26th, 1940 Giorgio Moroder's ground breaking synthesizer experimentation during the 1970's and 80's would go on to have a significant influence on many genres of modern electronic music. One of his most revered productions was the disco classic 'I feel Love' by Donna Summer which quickly became one of the signature tunes of the generation. Some of Moroder's early works did not go unnoticed either. Taken from his rare 1972 album 'Son Of My Father' Moroder's haunting organ sequence on the track 'Tears' caught the attention of a young crate digger named Josh Davies (AKA DJ Shadow). It would go on to form the basis of Shadow's 1996 classic 'Organ Donor' which featured on his debut smash 'Entroducing..'. Samples from 'Tears' were also used by Canadian hip hop outfit 'Swollen Members' on their track 'Fuel Injected'. Enjoy the vibes...
